Blue Chip was named Best Overall Gaming Resort by Casino Player Magazine. In the two-page spread that began the article, the Spa Blu Tower was one of the five regional gaming resorts pictured, alongside other premier resorts such as Borgata in Atlantic City and Red Rock in Las Vegas. In addition to this award, Blue Chip was almost named Best Hotel, Best Reel Slots, Best Buffet, Best Dealers, Best Concerts, Best Promotions, Best Coffee Shop, Best Slot Tournaments, and Best Poker Tournaments.
